JPG to PDF on Mac: combine pictures into one document

Short answer

To convert JPG to PDF on Mac, select pictures in Finder, Control-click, and choose Quick Actions > Create PDF. Yuzu Drag also lets you combine JPG images into PDF: drag the selected images, tap ⌘ for Tools, and drop on CREATE PDF. It makes one page per image in the input selection order. Open the result in Preview to check the sequence before sharing.

A PDF is useful when a recipient wants one attachment rather than separate photos. It also gives you a page sequence to review. It does not make an unreadable photo readable, remove sensitive information pictured in the image, or guarantee a smaller attachment.

Use Finder or Preview first

Apple documents the Finder Create PDF action. For an occasional packet of pictures, this built-in method may be all you need.

  1. Put the intended pictures together in Finder so you can identify the correct versions.
  2. Select the files in the order you want them to appear. Apple notes that the resulting PDF follows selection order.
  3. Control-click the selection and choose Quick Actions > Create PDF.
  4. Find the new PDF and open it in Preview.
  5. Choose View > Thumbnails and check the sequence from beginning to end.
  6. Give the finished document a useful name before sending it.

Do not assume that a folder's visible sort order proves the resulting page order. Check the output itself. If a page needs moving, use Preview's thumbnail sidebar on a copy of the document and save the corrected version.

For one JPG, open it in Preview and choose File > Export, then PDF as the format. Choose a separate filename and save. This is convenient when you want to inspect the picture before exporting it. Avoid changing the original's extension to .pdf; a renamed image is still an image file.

Create a PDF with Yuzu Drag

The relevant operation is a tool rather than an image-format conversion. Leave Yuzu Drag running, then work from the source files in Finder.

  1. Select the JPG images you want in the document.
  2. Begin dragging the selection and keep the drag active.
  3. Tap ⌘ to open Tools.
  4. Drop on CREATE PDF and wait for the new document.
  5. Open the newly created PDF in Preview.
  6. Check the page count, order and orientation before using it as your delivery copy.

Yuzu creates a new document and leaves the source images in place. It uses one page per image, following the input selection order. Each page follows that image's pixel dimensions rather than a fixed A4 or Letter template. For multiple photos to PDF, check the sequence in Preview; you can reorder a copy there when needed.

Prepare pictures that belong together

For a photographed receipt packet, identify the front of each receipt and any continuation photo before combining them. These are example inputs, not a measured test. Remove accidental duplicate selections and leave unrelated pictures out of the set.

Open a representative image at readable magnification. If a receipt's total is blurred in the source, wrapping that photo in a PDF will not recover it. Retake the photo or obtain a clearer source before building the final packet. Check portrait photos for sideways text and rotated pages.

Keep an untouched source folder until the recipient accepts the document. A filename such as a date or project name can help distinguish the final packet from a test export, but confirm the actual contents rather than relying on its name alone. If you create a replacement packet, reopen that replacement before attaching it.

Review the finished document

Use Preview's thumbnails to compare the number of pages with the number of intended source images. Then look at each full page. A correct page count can still hide a repeated photo or a missing receipt replaced by the wrong image.

  • Check small printed text at the size your recipient will use.
  • Look for clipped edges, unexpected margins and wrong orientation.
  • Confirm that the first page identifies the packet clearly.
  • Check the actual file size against the receiving site's limit.
  • Make sure the attachment is the PDF, not one of the source pictures.

Creating a PDF is not an automatic compression guarantee. The result can still exceed an email or upload limit. If file weight is the remaining problem, use the separate PDF compression guide and inspect readability again afterward.

For JPEG to PDF in Preview, check that the exported page contains the whole picture. For a set of receipts, compare every PDF page with its source photo, not just the total count. A PDF made from images does not turn pictured words into selectable text. Keep the original pictures for later edits or another export.

Choose the right follow-up

If you need pictures from a document instead, see PDF to JPG. That produces page images, not the original camera files. Browse the image tools hub and PDF tools hub for the surrounding tasks. Download Yuzu Drag if creating documents from Finder is a repeated part of your work; keep using Finder or Preview if they already cover the job.

FAQ

Can I combine several JPG pictures into one PDF?

Yes. Finder's Create PDF action combines selected images. Yuzu Drag also creates a PDF with one page per image. Review the resulting order.

Will the PDF contain editable text?

Putting a picture into a PDF does not turn its pictured words into editable document text. Keep the image originals.
