Yuzu Drag FAQ: requirements, keys, files and privacy
Updated:
The Yuzu Drag FAQ covers installation, the keyboard workflow and what happens to your files. Yuzu Drag is a menu-bar utility for macOS 14 or later, with Apple silicon and Intel support. You can use local operations without creating an account.
Do I need another app for a one-off conversion?
Not necessarily. Preview offers image export, Finder can manage copies and rename a batch, and the app that created a document often has the most appropriate export controls. Yuzu is useful when you repeat file tasks and want to choose the operation during a drag.
How do the keys work?
Begin dragging a supported file in Finder. Tap ⇧ to open Convert, tap ⌘ for Tools, or tap ⌘ again for Actions. Move onto the choice you want and drop on its wedge. For folders and mixed file types, ⌘ can open Actions directly.
These are the default keys; you can change them in Settings.
For example, drag a HEIC image, tap ⇧ and choose JPG. The wheel leaves out the source format. Supported native encoders and decoders depend on your version of macOS.
Can I select more than one file?
Yes. Select the files together before beginning the drag. Available operations depend on the selection, so a mixed selection can offer different choices from a group of the same file type. Try a representative selection and check the outputs before processing an important batch.
Will my originals change?
Conversions create new files. Copy makes another copy in your destination. Move changes the original location, and Rename changes the original names. Review the rename preview for collisions before applying it.
Copy, Move and Rename offer session-only Undo. Do not rely on that as a persistent history after quitting or as a replacement for a backup.
Is Float cloud storage?
No. Float is a temporary drag-and-drop shelf for holding files while you navigate. It is not a backup or a promise of remote synchronization. Keep the source files in an appropriate permanent location.
Does the app upload my files?
Local conversions and tools run on your Mac. Explicitly choosing Upload sends files to your own S3-compatible bucket. Choosing Filebin sends a copy to filebin.net and creates a temporary public-by-link share; anyone with the link can open it. Service availability and expiry can vary.
Is Clipboard part of the drag wheel?
Clipboard is a separate optional module, off by default. Turn it on in Settings > Clipboard and open its history with the default ⌘⇧V shortcut. History is local. It does not automatically optimize everything you copy. Connecting Tolaria folders is read-only; see Clipboard setup and the privacy details.
Does it collect analytics or need special permissions?
The app sends no analytics. Its file tools need neither Accessibility nor Input Monitoring permission. Clipboard auto-paste in the direct-download build needs Accessibility approval in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. Without approval, or in the Mac App Store build, copy the item and paste it manually with ⌘V. Normal file and folder access still applies. Website GA4 records site visits and clicks, not app usage.
Where should I start?
Browse all tools, read image conversion choices or file actions, check the privacy page, and download the official app.
